Luke AFB School Liaison is available to assist military and civilian families with questions or issues concerning public and charter schools. As military parents of school age children are aware, there are unique challenges military children experience during transitioning to a new school. The main goals of the School Liaison are to identify barriers to academic success and develop solutions, provide parents the tools they need to overcome educational obstacles, and develop a partnership with the local school districts servicing military and civilian students. The role of the School Liaison at Luke Air Force Base is to assist families ensure their children receive the best possible education regardless of where they attend school.

School Liaison Services Include:
-Assist parents in locating schools in the local area
-Maintain resources available to assist parents in understanding the policies and procedures of local school systems surrounding Luke AFB
-Make school referrals as appropriate
-Assist families solve educational challenges that may occur

The Education Services Flight, located on the third floor in Bldg 1150, offers a variety of educational services and programs for active duty Air Force personnel. Some, but not all programs and/or services are also available to Air Force family members and DoD civilians and their family members.

Programs and services include:
The Air Force Tuition Assistance Program which pays 100% of an airman’s tuition cost for college courses up to a semester hour cap of $250 and up to a maximum of $4,500 per fiscal year.

On-base colleges and universities with degree programs that can be completed (within a two to three year period) by students attending classes part time (off-duty). All five on-base schools Rio Salado Community College, Park University, Wayland Baptist University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and Webster University grant some credit to airmen for Air Force training or Professional Military Education. All five programs are open to civilians and military family members. Registration for classes is normally held at the beginning of each quarter.

Educational counseling and advisement services to include academic planning, college course/program selection and requirements, providing information about financial aid and scholarship programs, about college and university programs within the Phoenix area, as well as information about colleges and universities throughout the US.

Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) for active duty Air Force , Reserve, and Air Guard program which combines military technical school credit, professional military education credit and/or credit earned via testing with college credit culminating in an Associate of Applied Science Degree.

Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) Testing Program which provides many examinations free of charge to active duty, reserve, and National Guard Personnel. There are more than 100 tests for which college credit can be earned. Other types of tests available include college entrance exams such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Some, but not all, tests are available to family members and other civilians, but are not provided free of charge. For more information, call 856-7722.
